EU poultry meat imports increase as global trade fluctuates
The European Union saw a significant rise in poultry meat imports during the first quarter of 2025, with a 13.7% year-on-year increase. This growth, bringing the total imports to 254,756 tonnes, was primarily driven by Brazil, which sent 88,937 tonnes, a 30.1% jump from the previous year. Imports from China surged by 71.8%, reaching 17,987 tonnes.

Rheinmetall in advanced talks with Romanian state company for ammunition joint venture
German defence manufacturer Rheinmetall is in advanced negotiations with a Romanian state-owned company over establishing a joint venture to produce ammunition, Romanian President NicuČ™or Dan confirmed on Friday. Speaking at a press conference in Berlin alongside German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, President Dan stated: “At this moment, there are advanced negotiations between Rheinmetall and the Medias factory for a joint venture on munitions.”
