Albanian Nationalism
It simply doesn't exist.
Albanians are naturally not nationalist.
6 years back to Tirana from Toronto and I have met only 9 nationalists.
Kosovo Albanians are even more anti nationalist as they fantasize that Serbs will co-live with them in KS.
Albanian Nationalism is always reactive, never proactive.
There is no strategy of inherent Albanian nationalism, and there has never been in reality, it has always been reactionary.

First Albanian nationalists were the orthodox Rum Albanian elite which refused to be hellenised when Germans imposed Hellenism on Rum.
Hence, Constantinople flag, Scanderbeg, national anthem, first Albanian schools were established by the orthodox Rum Albanian Nationalists.

Catholics, sufi shias (Bektashi) and sunni Muslims didn't care much about Albanian nationalism while orthodox were establishing Albanian nationalism as reactionary refusal to become Greek.

Albanian Sufi shias (bektashi or alevi as known in Turkiye) discovered they were Albanians only after the Sultan started persecuting Sufism in the 1850s onwards.
Sufi shia elite adopted immediately orthodox Albanian nationalism and orthodox symbols.

The third to discover they were Albanians were the Catholics, after Vatican I council, which officially created the Catholic Identity, as opposed to just being the catholic universal church.
Vatican cooperated with the Sultan to create catholic millets recognized in 1849.

Catholic Albanian elite and clergy refused Vatican plan to split Catholics from the Albanians as separate Millet, and got involved with nationalism.
If orthodox Rum Albanians established Albanian nationalism, catholic Albanians expanded it to Albanian ultra nationalism.

Catholic Albanian Pashko Vasa, former ottoman governor of Lebanon, became virulent anti catholic and anti islamic by establishing the moto of Albanian nationalism in 1887:
Don't listen to churches and mosques, religion of Albanians is Albanism.

Catholic ultra nationalists adopted all symbols of orthodox Rum Albanian elite established for 70 years in the making as reactionary refusal to become Greek.
The fourth to discover they were Albanians are the sunni Muslims. This is a bit more complex.
Muslim bayraks got together to create an Islamic League at Prizren in order to save their economic interests.
It was Bektashi sufi shia elite which convinced the sunni bayraks to not present the Islamic Prizren League as Islamic, as Europe and Ottomans were practicing mutual cleansing and genocide of christians vs Muslims without ethnic distinction.

Few days later at Berlin Congress, big powers decided that Albanian nation does not exist.
That meant that orthodox Rum Albanians would have to be hellenised or serbianized, catholic Albanians would create a separate Millet and Muslim albs simply expelled to Turkey.

That convinced Muslim bayraks and that little Muslim elite to thinking whether they had to be Muslims or Albanians.
If Muslims, they would be simply killed or expelled to Anatolia.
As Albanians they had a chance to survive.

So they joined Albanian nationalism and of course obligated to adopt all orthodox Rum symbols that tbe founders of Albanian nationalism, the orthodox Rum Albanians, had established.

The culmination arrived with King Zog who established an anti islamic, anti catholic and anti orthodox state by adopting the moto of the virulent anti-catholic catholic ultra nationalist Pashko Vasa:
Religion of Albanians is Albanism.

Enver Hoxha later went to extreme nationalism by banning all religions, made Scanderbeg national hero, adopted officially Zog's ideology of Religion of Albanians is Albanism.

As you can see, there is no inherent Albanian nationalism, only reactionary self defensive Albanian nationalism, only when the nation is at the risk of extinction, like when it happened in 1999 Kosovo war.

After extinction of Albanians prevented by NATO and USA, Albanians went back to forgetting nationalism again, which is the current situation now.
Nobody really cares.
